Snow, hail, freezing rain, torrential rain, flooding, ice pellets, thunder, lightning, damaging winds - we got it all today! Rusty and I tried to go for a walk in this mess but he quickly went pee and turned towards home. The weatherman says we may get a bit of a break in about an hour so we’ll venture out again before the second round of thunderstorms. I hear it’s going to be warm and sunny tomorrow. Welcome to April!

I was thrilled to see the mill survived Helene. That blue tarp has been in place on the water wheel for years.

Flooding can disrupt operations, damage infrastructure, and put occupants at risk. Assessing site vulnerabilities early in the design process helps teams plan for natural hazards and climate-related threats.

This was my first opportunity since Hurricane Helene to visit Curtis Creek. This is located in the Pisgah National Forest and one of my fa favorite fly fishing spots. Much of Curtis Creek overflowed its banks during the storm, but it was not as bad as I expected.

The river (beyond the tree) overflows onto the edge of the park every year, and often a lot more than this year. Geese and ducks populate the pond scouring what food they can. It's a veritable feast.
I wanted a clear photo, but had I exited the car, they would have fled, so I used the phone to shoot through the windshield, and then I cropped away the hood of the car in the bottom third of the photo.

The title might be mildly hyperbolic but my sense of humour calls for this description of flooding in Church Lane, Bursledon as substantial amounts of water from a burst water main flowed down Bridge Road to this lower point yards from the River Hamble.
