Just a photo taken some time ago when the roads flooded out. I'd forgotten about it, but thought it was a special sorta capture worth sharing. There's a road under all of that water...

Out on the grass at the eastern end of Duxford, Hawker Hurricane IIb G-HHII is a 1942 Canadian built example, originally serving with RCAF as 1374. Restored by 2005 and active since as BE505, but never served with the RAF.

About 15 years ago, Lake Lure converted the old US 74 bridge to a garden walkway. Hurricane Helene devastated the bridge and Lake Lure. The west end of the bridge was completely destroyed and washed away. The rest of the concrete structure was compromised. It may never be restored.
